The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland WEA In-House Tape - 1987

Well. I don't really now the source of this one, but it was shared by mansha along time ago, so my THANK YOU to him. This mixes are closer to the finished album than the previously shared Floodland Demos.

This was on the original TXT;

"I've had this tape sitting in a drawer since around 1990. It was just labelled as "Floodland demos", and the recording was accompanied by a loud whistle (this is caused by being copied using high-speed dubbing when there's a TV set close to the machine). I removed as much of the whistle as I could without affecting the quality of the recording, so now it's not noticeable except during the quiet bits like at the start and ends of some songs. This is obviously another in-house mixes tape, or something of that sort. The tracks are definitely different, for example the intro of Driven Like The Snow #1 is longer, and the mix of Lucretia sounds less busy than the finished version. Also, you can hear that some tracks seem to be off vinyl, so some of them are probably from acetates. "

I fixed the mic on my hat, and I find that it is a good position (conversations are less audible), although risky with the security (not here)... At the beginning of the show, I was located center and fifth row but, during Moonchild, two heavy drunken guys intended to launch a pogo behind me. My hat fell down (you might hear it!) and I had to reach the third row. Some gentle fellow asked me if I wanted to do so (you can hear him, too!). Let me thank him!!
But from this moment, sound is louder on the recording, without too bad disadvantage.
Sound was quite good during the gig, even if the voice is a little distant. Finally, I'm quite satisfied with the recording (2 little clicks at the beginning). I've done nothing on it, but feel free to make any improvement and to post it after.

"This was the first and only time I saw the Army live, and they were great, I was aboout seventeen, and had never seen so much mayhem in the moshpit before. When Get Me Out kicked off the front row just vanished, (but then was seen being helped out by kindly hairy men in clogs). All in all it was an awesome night. Terrorvision were supporting (crowd sat down) Ed Alleyne Johnson played the Purple Electric Violin Concerto (crowd stood up). It was really cool that he played, we had met him a few weeks before when he came busking in Cheltenham.

The setlist was ..,.(I think the names are mainly right, but there was couple I was not sure about, it was a long time ago and I ripped these the other week!)

A new band from Brasil, who's sharing their CD on the net, and asked the room to help promote it. It's very good, the band claims to be influenced by Can, Kraftwerk, Neu! and Pere Ubu, and they song in portuguese who adds to the mistery of their sound.
